Moses Wadawadi is 50 years old and a self taught artist from Oro. He makes a living selling screen print t-shirts, bags, and hats in Popendetta. His images are a mix of traditional styles and new ideas.
The painting symbolises the Oro tattoo design which has been translated to Tapa cloth and now to screen print. The old symbol has travelled with us, but now it is just decoration and we don’t exercise the traditional judgement it represents. Sometimes our ancestral symbols are now just empty tokens that make us money.
