From humble beginnings in 1912, the Moresby Arts Theatre began as a small dramatic club set up by the expatriate community in Port Moresby. Since then MAT has grown remarkably to become a beacon light for the dramatic arts in Papua New Guinea.
Our small theatre has played host to over 300 hundred shows, countless events and craft markets and continues to provide a culturally conscious venue for all Papua New Guinens.
MAT is proud to support the arts industry in PNG and through our Youth Arts Programme and various other cultural initiatives, we contintue to ensure the preservation of Papua New Guineas unique and diverse culture thorugh the art of storytelling, music and dance.
